How ChatGPT made our small business visible on Google in less than a week.

Bunker Hill Media has been in operation for two and a half years and we are so super stoked about that. What we’re not stoked about is that no matter how hard we tried to get visibility on Google it just wouldn’t happen. We’ve done everything under the sun to try and get our little red pinpoint to show up when you search video production in Boston but every attempt has just been completely fruitless. We really tried just about everything - SEO optimization, directing friends to the site, embedding the link where we can, getting Google reviews from clients, keywords on the site… really we tried it all.

Well… almost everything.

…except blogs.

I mean really, who has time to regularly sit there and write a 2,100 - 2,500 word blog when they’re trying to make their small business’s world keep turning. As a former english major from UCONN you’d think that sitting down and writing a quick essay about why companies need branded content wouldn’t be that difficult but honestly… I just don’t have the time. And just like that out of no where comes ChatGPT - the answer to all our problems.

For the past week we’ve been using the Open AI platform to pump out blogs for us, and just like that there we are on the map. I’m not kidding – it was literally that simple. “Write a 2,500 word blog about why your company needs an “about me” video.” “Write a 2,100 word blog about why your company needs vertical video.” “Give me reasons why we should be using ChatGPT to create visibility on Google….” the possibilities are endless and, quite frankly, easy.

What we do is type a prompt into the ChatGPT system, and then just copy the the content that it spits out at us and throw it up on our blog. It’s been loaded with key words that we want on our site so that Google can index the site and display us in search results. Do the blogs sound like my voice? Absolutely not. Do I care? Absolutely not (though that said, we definitely make tweaks to make sure everything is correct). I’m not writing these posts so that people will actually read them – this thing is thing is probably full of typos – I really don’t care. Honestly, I’m “writing” these praying that no one will read them because I’m literally just doing them to get our foot into the system. On that note… video production, branded videos, video production in Boston, videos for my brand Boston, video content, video production services… anyway!

So if you’re a small business owner and you’re reading this because you want to know how to become visible on Google and you’re thinking “wow this is the answer to my problems” then heck ya! But if the five minutes it would take for you to do this just isn’t doing it for you then just click out of this blog – if this isn’t going to be the thing that gets you to write blogs then literally nothing will. If you are thinking that you want to give this tactic a whirl and literally change the game for your business then here are some steps to improve the search visibility of your business through blog posts:

  1. Conduct keyword research: Identify the keywords that people use to search for your products or services. This will help you create blog posts that target these keywords and improve your search engine ranking.

  2. Optimize your blog posts for search engines: This includes writing informative and high-quality blog posts, using relevant keywords in your headlines and throughout the post, and including meta descriptions that accurately summarize the content of your post.

  3. Promote your blog posts: Share your blog posts on social media and other platforms to drive traffic to your website. This will not only improve your search engine ranking but also help you reach a wider audience.

  4. Use internal links: Linking to other relevant pages on your website from your blog posts will help search engines understand the structure and hierarchy of your site, making it easier for them to index and rank your pages.

  5. Create high-quality content: This will not only make your blog posts more shareable but also help establish your business as an authority in your industry, which can positively impact your search engine ranking over time.

So get out there on ChatGPT and get blogging. Just do it - even if you hate the idea that ChatGPT is your way out… or in!

Also while you’re here - check out this video we did last year :)
