THE CHALLENGE FOR TALENTBURST:

We were approached by the team at TalentBurst to help upgrade and modernize their video content, creating a pair of engaging assets to reach their Healthcare and Life Sciences audiences. Our challenge was to create visually captivating videos that featured numerous interview setups and b-roll – but there was a catch. While the client was eager to include footage of their clients in action (from hospitals and labs), we only had time for a single shoot day.

THE APPROACH FOR TALENTBURST:

To accomplish the goal of creating dynamic videos that included on-location footage from labs and hospitals, we realized that we would have to utilize stock footage. Taking advantage of the incredibly deep stock library from Envato Elements allowed us to focus the shoot day on capturing our interviews, which consisted of six different TalentBurst employees. It also gave us time to capture some b-roll at the TalentBurst office, which gave the videos a more personalized, relatable feel.

PRE-PRODUCTION FOR TALENTBURST:

Bunker Hill Media worked hand in hand with the fantastic marketing team at TalentBurst throughout the production process, starting with creative collaboration in pre-production. The team provided us with a clear direction, which we used to craft scripts, shot lists, and a comprehensive shoot plan. These were further refined leading up to the shoot, resulting in an incredibly efficient shoot day and post-production process.

THE TALENTBURST SHOOT:

The shoot took place at TalentBurst HQ in Natick, MA. Our first focus was to capture our “talking heads”, which consisted of six interviews in three distinct setups throughout the TalentBurst offices. We set up our A-Cam using our Sony FX3 cinema rig, and built out a B-Cam using a Sony FX30 on a DJI Ronin RS3 gimbal, which gave our profile shot a nice bit of movement. For lighting, we relied on the fantastic natural lighting in the TalentBurst office, coupled with a Nanlite FC 500-B. To capture audio, we used the Deity S-Mic 2S on a boom, which was connected by XLR directly to the audio handle on the FX3. We also recorded audio on the B-Cam, which would allow us to sync the shots in post.

As we had written scripts for each of the two videos, we also used a teleprompter, which is mounted directly on the front of the FX3. With the teleprompter, we worked through each “interview” setup quickly and effectively, which allowed us to capture far more usable content in a single day than we might have using a more traditional interview method.

While we do love the organic feel that videos have when we simply prompt our talent with questions, sometimes scripted is the way to go!

After successfully capturing our speakers, we shifted our attention to capturing some high-value b-roll of logos, awards, and office interactions that would bring our videos to the next level.

POST-PRODUCTION FOR TALENTBURST:

Thanks to our careful planning in pre-production and our efficient execution on set, we were well positioned for a smooth post-production process.

The biggest challenge, obviously, was finding and organizing the hefty amount of stock b-roll footage we would need to complement our interview footage. Fortunately, we were well prepared, and had done plenty of research into the availability of our required footage in advance.

Envato Elements features a well stocked (pun intended) library of footage, and we had no problem procuring a great variety of footage in both hospital and lab settings which allowed us to create incredibly polished videos that had the feel of high-budget productions.

We also added carefully curated music tracks and some basic motion graphics to tie the videos together.

TALENTBURST CHALLENGES + SOLUTIONS:

Our biggest challenge on this project was creating two enterprise level videos with just one shoot day. As mentioned, we leaned on stock footage to boost our production value, which allowed us to focus on nailing our interviews and delivering two highly polished video assets
