Charlestown Historical Society x Place & Gather – The Challenge:
Bunker Hill Media, Boston’s premier video production company, was hired by Amanda Mitchell of Place & Gather to create and produce an engaging and informational video about the history of the Bunker Hill Flag. The objective was to target a broad audience, ensuring the video was both educational and enjoyable for viewers of all ages. Amanda wanted the video to be rich in historical facts while being accessible and entertaining! Collaborating with Julie Hall of the Charlestown Historical Society, we set out to create a captivating piece that highlighted the significance of the Bunker Hill Flag in a way that resonated with a wide audience.
Charlestown Historical Society x Place & Gather – Production:
Our small, two-person video production team selected the Charlestown Historical Society as the primary filming location, which provided an ideal backdrop filled with historical artifacts and a light-filled room that added depth to our shots. The setting was perfect for capturing the essence of the Bunker Hill Flag's history. We approached this project with a lean and efficient setup, utilizing our Sony FX3 camera, a 600 aperture light, and RODE microphones to ensure high-quality audio and visual output. The compact setup allowed us to navigate the tight space effectively while maintaining the professional quality of our video production.
During the shoot, we captured both video and stills, with photos taken at high shutter speeds (around 1/1000 - 1/2000) to achieve vibrant colors and sharp action shots. Our team worked diligently to ensure that every frame contributed to the storytelling, highlighting the historical narrative while keeping the content engaging. Despite the short two-hour timeframe, we produced a polished, informative, and entertaining video that met all the project goals. The shoot was filled with laughter and camaraderie, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The final video was not only a testament to the rich history of the Bunker Hill Flag but also a showcase of Bunker Hill Media’s expertise in creating compelling and educational content.
