CHALLENGE:

At Bunker Hill Media, we had the privilege of collaborating with Place & Gather, a fabulous boutique nestled in the heart of historic Charlestown, Massachusetts. Known for their unique blend of Palm Beach flair and New England charm, Place & Gather is not just any gift shop—it's a destination for those seeking the perfect gift for every occasion, along with delightful home decor. The challenge for us was to encapsulate the essence of Place & Gather's vibrant and Charlestown-inspired offerings in a video that not only introduces the shop to new customers but also reinforces its brand among existing patrons. We wanted to create a video that would resonate with viewers by conveying the boutique's unique atmosphere and diverse product range, ensuring it felt as if every viewer was walking through their doors, whether they were longtime locals or distant admirers ready to explore what makes Place & Gather a treasure in Charlestown. The story was to be driven by the shop’s proprietor, Amanda Mitchell who is somehow even more fabulous than the shop itself - which judging by the photos and video below is no small feat!

PRODUCTION:

Sam and I were buzzing with ideas from the moment we started planning this project. Knowing the importance of this video for Place & Gather, we knew we had to create something compelling and beautiful all at the same time. Along with our Sony FX3 and the precise lighting capabilities of our Aputure lights, we were ready to capture the enchanting atmosphere of the store in cinematic glory. Our Ronin RS2 gimbal was instrumental, allowing us to glide smoothly through the aisles, capturing the intricate details and lovingly curated products that make Place & Gather so special.

The filming process was a true collaborative effort. We immersed ourselves in the vibrant environment of the shop, working closely with the Place & Gather team to highlight the space’s aesthetic and wonderful products. Each shot was meticulously framed to tell a story — not just of a retail space, but of a community cornerstone that prides itself on finding the perfect item for every occasion. From detailed close-ups of the products to interactions that capture the warm, personal customer service, our goal was to weave a visual tale that resonated with both longtime patrons and potential new visitors.

Through dynamic visuals and engaging storytelling, we aimed to do more than just showcase a shop; we sought to broadcast the heart and soul of Place & Gather. This wasn’t just about filming a space; it was about capturing the spirit of community and creativity that defines Charlestown’s favorite gift shop.
